Overview
Pokemon Yellow Version is also known as the Special Pikachu addition because of the new feature where you have Pikachu follow you around the world, out of his PokeBall (See Below). Aside from that, Pokemon Yellow is also known as the remake of the
Red and
Blue versions, although enhanced. Because it was made in the time of the Game Boy Color, Pokemon Yellow was enhanced with colored graphics and sprites which was one large upgrade. However, even more interesting and higher rated was the upgrade of the Pokemon sprites. The Pokemon now looked more like their anime counter-parts. Aside from these, Pokemon Yellow was generally the same as Pokemon Red and Blue Versions. Unlike many games, Pokemon Yellow was a hit out of the ballpark. Within its first week of sales it made the number two spot on the most sales. One week later (its second week on the shelves), it reached number one.
Linking
Pokemon Yellow kept the popular interactions with the other Pokemon versions. Pokemon Trading and battling allows trainers to test their skills against friends, or Pokemon Master wannabes. Which ever it is, it's fnu and trading can help you on your quest to collect all the Pokemon!
Trading Pokemon -- Trainers can visit the Cable Club where they can trade their Pokemon with another friend's Pokemon using the game Link.
Battling Others -- With the game link, Trainers can visit the Cable Club where they have the opportunity to Battle friends in real-time! This was perhaps the largest and most praised feature for the Pokemon series.

The Cable Club is accessed in the far right corner of the Pokemon Center. Please note that you must of: Given Prof. Oak the Package, Have two Gameboy/Color/Advance/SP Systems, two different Game cartridges (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Gold, Silver, or Crystal), and have a working Cable Link.
New Features
Since Pokemon Yellow was an upgrade to the Red and Blue (Green) Versions, many new enhancements were added to give the player an even better experience.
-- Trading and Battling was kept in this newer version (See Above).
-- For the first (and only) time you have the furry critter, Pikachu, follow you around the world of Pokemon. This included a "cute" feature of having Pikachu getting used to you where you could turn around to face Pikachu. Pikachu's face would show it's mood towards you. At first, Pikachu may hate you to the bone, but eventually you two become best friends! (See Images Below).
-- There was an upgrade in the Pokemon Sprites.
-- Your rival will receive an Eevee instead of your Pokemon's weakness.
-- A mini-game, featuring a Surfing Pikachu, gave players a fun ride. (See Images Below).
-- A New Cinema Opening featuring Pikachu running towards you along with many other random events (surfing and flying) is used as the opening for the game, along with a new Start-Up image featuring, of course, Pikachu! (See Images Below).
-- Hook up with
Pokemon Stadium allows players to experience Pokemon battling in 3D.
Objectives
Of course, like the last two Pokemon games (Red and Blue), Pokemon Yellow gives the player the quest to obtain all of the badges. Once all Gym Leaders have bestowed their badges upon you, you are faced with the Elite Four. There is also the duty to capture all 151 Pokemon. This can be done by the trading of others and exploring all corners of Kanto (See above). However, there is one other, generally over-looked, objective in this game. You must bond with Pikachu. It does take some time, but it is always fun to have a Pikachu following you around and being your best friend!
