Overview

Pokemon Red and Blue set the pathway for Pokemon Fandom. These two games were first in a long series of Pokemon Games, and  they were a huge success in their time. Pokemon creator, Satoshi Tajiri first released these games, under Nintendo, in Japan in the year  1996. They were an immediate success. The story takes place in what is now known as the region of Kanto. Players have the  opportunity to become a Pokemon Trainer where they are given the privilege to catch and train the guys we all love, Pokemon.

Linking
A unique experience in this game is the way players can connect to other Gameboy consoles with other Pokemon Games. Within this game, this feature is called the Cable Club. There are only two Game Linkings in these two games, Trading and Battling.

Trading Pokemon -- Trainers can visit the Cable Club where they can trade their Pokemon with another friend's Pokemon using the game Link.

Battling Others -- With the game link, Trainers can visit the Cable Club where they have the opportunity to Battle friends in real-time! This was perhaps the largest and most praised feature for the Pokemon series.

You can also link to Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal Games. Please see those pages for information on setting up a connection between these three games.

The Cable Club is accessed in the far right corner of the Pokemon Center. Please note that you must of: Given Prof. Oak the Package, Have two Gameboy/Color/Advance/SP Systems, two different Game cartridges (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Gold, Silver, or Crystal), and have a working Cable Link.

New Features

Ultimately, both of these games' features, were all new because these were the first games, so the following are just a few of the events that were put into play.

-- Pokemon catching, of course. Players have the ability to store their own partner/pets within containers known as, PokeBalls.
-- Battling. The entire game consists of non-stop battling with the creatures, Pokemon. Battles allow trainers to use different types of Pokemon, which in some cases is useful for battle techniques.
-- Trading created the pathway towards obtaining all of the Pokemon. Not only could trainers trade their Pokemon with some built-in characters, but they could also trade with others. (See Above).
-- Hook up with Pokemon Stadium allows players to experience Pokemon battling in 3D.

Objectives

Pokemon Red and Blue were known for their long story. The objective is to beat and obtain all Gym Leaders and their Badges. Once  all eight have been obtained, trainers make their way to the Elite Four, four of the best Pokemon trainers in the game. After defeating,  the player can continue fighting the elite, or continue their other goal, catching all 151 Pokemon. Many of this takes long hours of  looking in all corners of the Pokemon World. Even more, you have to search in the real world to get them all. Some trainers could  obtain other Pokemon that aren't obtainable in their game from someone else. Another way to collect them all is to visit Nintendo  Promotions where they may be giving away rare Pokemon.
