Overview

Pokemon Gold and Silver became the most talked about games of their time. Why? Because of the amazing hits that Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow were! It made a long anticipated wait for the next installments in the Pokemon saga. The games: Pokemon Gold and Silver were equiped with (at that time) "amazing" sprites and graphics. It also introduced and setup the new home of Pokemon: Johto. Aside from that, new Pokemon! That was what everyone was interested in. With now an extra 100 Pokemon, trainers could work even harder and keep themselves busy to become the Pokemon Masters they wanted to be.

Linking
With a new generation of Pokemon, it made it even harder to catch them all! So, when you can't get them all, what do you do? You trade! And after trading, what do you do then? You Battle! These two features came back to help trainers in their quest to find all Pokemon! Even a handy feature called the "Time Machine" was installed into this Pokemon game!

Trading Pokemon -- Trainers can visit the Cable Club where they can trade their Pokemon with another friend's Pokemon using the game Link.

Battling Others -- With the game link, Trainers can visit the Cable Club where they have the opportunity to Battle friends in real-time! This was perhaps the largest and most praised feature for the Pokemon series.

Time Machine -- To allow trainers to link back to past versions of Pokemon (Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow). However, there is a catch. Since the newer Pokemon have not been installed into the past versions, you cannot trade them or battle with them. In fact, you cannot even be carrying them in your party while using the Time Machine feature.

The Cable Club is now accessed on a second story of the Pokemon Center. Please note that you must: Have two Gameboy/Color/Advance/SP Systems, two different Game cartridges (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Gold, Silver, or Crystal), and have a working Cable Link.

New Features

As this was the introduction to the first-new generation, the creators wanted to add in many great features. Many of these features gave players a better view of the Pokemon world and added cool features that other following games have yet to renew.

-- Breeding played a large part in these games. It allowed you to learn where Pokemon come from, eggs! It also played key roles in containing all Pokemon.
-- You get to obtain Togepi and even eventually have it evolve into the new Pokemon, Togetic.
-- A Day and Night system was added.
-- Some Pokemon were only obtainable in the day and/or night.
-- A clock was added using a small built-in battery that kept the day and night system running.
-- A Radio was added allowing players to listen to fun tunes while exploring.
-- A handy cell-phone allowed players to call in-game friends, and even have those friends call them.
-- Mystery Gift was added into the game. This feature allowed players to connect to friend's game boy's, without wires, and receive random items. This could also be done using Pokemon Stadium 2.
-- Players could decorate their bedroom with dolls and posters.
-- After fighting through Johto, trainers are sent back to taken on a journey in Kanto.
-- Pokemon Stadium 2 allowed players to play in 3D.
-- A new generation of Pokemon was introduced.

Objectives

Like all Pokemon RPG Series Games, this game is not much different. Players are given the task to defeat all eight Gym Leaders of the Johto Region. After, it's back off to the Elite Four where trainers will test their skills against the best Pokemon Trainers in all the land. A surprise twist was added to the end of the Pokemon games, however. Players are sent back to the past where they can battle their way through the Gym Leaders of Kanto, including the original Elite Four. What made this interesting as well was the fact that some Gym Leaders had been replaced by relatives or friends (many who are seen in the Anime series). At the end of it, Trainers can continue to catch Pokemon, but this time an extra 100 +  has been added to the total.
